Renowned designer Richard Frinier was honored with a Gold award in this year’s ADEX awards competition, an industry recognition of design and product innovation, for his Caravan Collection of Sunbrella® fabrics.

“We’re proud to be partnered with Richard Frinier and congratulate him on this new accolade of his continued design leadership,” said Greg Rosendale, residential market manager for Glen Raven Custom Fabrics, the maker of Sunbrella fabrics. “The Caravan Collection of Sunbrella fabrics represents an ideal fusion of design and performance, attributes in which we take pride.”

Frinier, who has spent more than 30 years in design of high-end furniture and fabrics, drew inspiration for this collection from an extended stay in Morocco. The Caravan Collection is comprised of an assortment of rich, textural constructions and authentically styled and colored patterns reminiscent of vintage Moroccan rugs.

“Morocco represents one of my most memorable adventures in design inspiration, and that translated beautifully to my Caravan Collection of Sunbrella fabrics,” said Frinier. “I am honored to receive this recognition from the A&D community, especially for a collection so near and dear to my heart.”

Caravan includes two base cloth constructions (Sahara, Desert) and five decorative and coordinating patterns (Casbah, Bazaar, Berber, Medina, Nomadic), each presented in authentic color palettes to create distinctive living spaces. Frinier took special care to incorporate the shades of sand, camel, brown, black, indigo and henna that reflect the region and its culture.

The Caravan Collection by Richard Frinier for Sunbrella is available through Pindler. High resolution images are available in the Sunbrella Press Room.
