Mobile Targeting

Are you are Mobirati or a Social Connector?

First time research from Experian Simmons has been released that can answer that question. This new study has identified five types of mobile phone users. These users are as follows:

Mobirati – (19% of mobile phone users) this is the generation that has grown up with cell phones and has not experienced life without them.

Social Connectors – (22%) communication is central to their lives and the cell phone allows them to be connected at all times.

Pragmatic Adopters – (22%) cell phones appeared in their adult life and they are now learning how to use them beyond talking.

Mobile Professionals – (17%) use phones to keep up with their professional life and personal life. Most likely to own a smartphone. Use the phone for many purposes.

Basic Planners – (20%) – not into cell phones. They have one because they feel they need it for emergencies, it is just another communication device.

This same research study also noted how cell phones are being used. After talking, the most popular activity is taking pictures, followed by checking email. Many users say that they are multitasking while on the phone (insert photo of my teenage daughter here) and report that they often watch TV, listen to the radio and surf the web while actively using their cell phone.

Interestingly enough, no one reported driving as a concurrent activity. We may have to check into the research methods.
