As a child of the 80s, nothing slows me down faster than 80s music. It was high on my reasons for purchasing satellite radio and one of the reasons I can’t help but watch VH1 Classic. So imagine my disappointment when I was one of only 11 people in the country who missed the tribute to Madonna on “Glee,” the FOX show that is mentioned in every third tweet and every other Facebook post.
So when the social media chatter went into a frenzy following the Madonna homage, I lamented to my peeps how I had missed it all. The responses ranged from shock to frame-by-frame recaps. But then another child of the 80s weighed in among the ubiquitous discussion with a simple post – Hulu.com.
A week later, I was hooked, and I was consuming media in a different format than the day before.
It continues to make me wonder how we will consume media next week, next month, next year. The iPad aside, what’s next? With the digital era ushering in new devices, I am constantly asking myself, will I be ready? Like most of us, I’m trying to be a millimeter head of what’s ahead, or least not late to the “next big thing.” For now, though, you will find me on Hulu, likely with a print newspaper nearby.
