KFC Strikes Water


My first thought was, Absolutely brilliant, yet running a close second was, Why didn’t I think of that.

Like most marketers today, KFC – or Kentucky Fried Chicken to anyone over 20 – is in a quest to find new places to reach consumers.  So in a stroke of grassroots genius, the company is promoting its new Fiery Buffalo Wings on fire hydrants and fire extinguishers in two cities in Indiana.  As an added touch that should make any public relations professional proud, the promotion also is designed to provide much needed financial support to help Indianapolis and Brazil, Ind., pay for new hydrants and extinguishers, which improve fire safety.

“Fiery” wings married with that which extinguishes heat?  Consumers may be tuning out traditional advertising methods, but they are guaranteed to catch this buzz.  The venerable Colonel would be proud.

And I’m thinking KFC for lunch.
