DVR – once my enemy, now my friend


Years ago when DVR first came out I was completely against it. A way to fast forward through television commercials?! No way – that will surely hurt our industry, right? On principle I had to say no.

Well, a year or so ago I finally experienced DVR. I saw how easy it is to record entire seasons of your favorite shows, how you can pause live TV and yes, how you can fast forward through commercials. It completely changed the way I watched TV. I was converted on the spot. In fact, behind fire and the wheel it may be the greatest invention in the history of man. If you have DVR you know exactly what I mean. And the best part? It’s not hurting the advertising industry one bit. In fact, it’s helping it. Don’t believe me? Check out what the New York Times has to say:
